Needed to take a knee after Nationals for one to heel my achilles but also due to some chest pain and shortness of breath. It's been three weeks now since the initial symptoms and after several tests and some down time I am feeling like my old self again. Through the tests the data seems to point to pushing past my limits at Nationals. Go figure, going out with Cam for the first k was a little over my pay grade.
Now with some rest I am back building my mileage back up with short tempo runs and controlled interval pacing. Initially the first few tempo runs were topping out at around 9 minute pace but we've been able to get that down to 7:30 pace with all signs pointing to continued improvement.
Also positive the achilles is responding well with the reduced load and we are running almost at full strength.
The journey continues prepping for National XC in November and possibly the Toronto Marathon in October with a possible event at the Edmonton Marathon weekend as a training event.
