As doubles go, I think the 1000m indoor track race followed up by a 55km ski race may be a first, that I know of.
The 1000m Friday night was a seasonal best and while the Birkie the next morning was not, it was great to be out taking in the event. The Birkie was not a focus for me this year as I have been keying in on the shorter events and by short I mean between two and three minutes. So there was a light bonk on the trails.
The good news, the back withstood the Birkie up to 30km when fatigue set in but unlike other years, I was able to maintain position at a slower pace and was able to ski the full 55km.
Back on the track this weekend for a 1500m and then on the ski front we have the last Alberta Cup and then Nationals in Canmore to finish up the season.
Should be fun!
