If you have been following along, I have done five ski races these season and have had no significant issues with back and thats saying something.
Last year I did one ski race and was unable to return due to lingering back issues showing good signs that the current strength regime is providing stability. I still have to be cautious with pacing but I feel stronger with each effort.
The focus now is on the indoor season and the 3000m, posting a sub nine for the distance and the training that goes with this style of effort. If achieved I will sign up for National Indoors in Montreal as I will only want to toe the line if I am going to be able to rub shoulders, I do not much like running 14 laps in lane three.
The main focus now is strength training combining strength, agility, stamina and coordination.
It was certainly my day at Nationals. The Trucker Cap was in full force, turned back for speed!
Come morning I was spiked up, psyched up. Stride was strong, speed on point and we went for it. Having said that disc issues were still a limiting factor, being that the morning of the race I could feel discomfort from the travelling.
I am certainly a fragile flower when it comes to travel but I do my best to put it out of mind. With the tightness the next gear was not available but within the gears I had it was grand day on the trails.
The day will come when I can once again race without disc issues but for now we cherish the moment, strive for the best and push limits.
As a side note I need a second trucker cap. One for speed and one for recovery. The sweat strains are getting some looks.
