A step in the wrong direction. Wrong direction indeed, stepped to the side to miss a fellow runner during the warm up as he changed direction unexpectedly and in doing so placed my foot in such a way as to flare the achilles.
The achilles was suspect but calm going into Nationals but not calm enough. It was a ginger race but a spectacular event, looking forward to the next XC season already.
The Nordic season has arrived and looking forward to waxing up in Canmore this weekend for the Alberta Cup season opener.
Opened indoor with a 1500 in 4:47 fully loaded training wise, so quite pleased.
Post 1500m did some easy aerobic skiing in Canmore to aid recovery and now remove the strength training and taper things down in preparation for this Saturday's Master 8km XC Nationals in Kingston.
indoor moving season begins this weekend at the Butterdome with the 1500m. End of the month we will be expanding. Moving pianos on snow with the start of the Nordic calendar in Canmore for the first AB Cups.
Last week saw a bronze medal at the Master Provincial 8km XC championship. One more XC on the calendar at the end of November with the Master National 8km XC championship in Kingston.
The 1500m this Saturday will be used as a tune up for Nationals.
As for training I’ve been hitting the strength and matching that with short intervals / short rest combined with easy regeneration.
If interested my Instagram shows qood detail on the type of strength I’ve been getting after.
