It took longer to decide on which race to do then to do the event itself, in the end went with the 10k maintaining the speed team focus. The race started with some kinks to be worked out, felt smooth through 4 to 6km, faded from 6 to 9km and then came back in the last k for the sprint finish to take the 40-49 category in 35:58.
Had thought about doing the marathon in prep for the World 100k but in the end decided two things, I was enjoying the speed work more and was just not ready to increase the distance in terms of the stiffness in my achilles.
Next up will be the Saucony XC Series and the Eastside 10k.
In the spirit of the current election campaign and in the words of the Conservative Party. "Jack, we're not saying never but he is just not ready." (To run an ultra marathon.)
Enjoying the speed, staying with the speed.
Back in the weight room building strength getting ready for a fall marathon and possibly the World Masters 100km Championships. The worlds are back in Winschoten this year and I have some unfinished business.
This would seem as a unscheduled stop but I have a special place in my heart for Winschoten and the new treatment for my back seems ahead of schedule and I might not have this chance again.
But not to get ahead of ourself's we will need to see how things go for the Edmonton Marathon.
